Morris E. Kemper, CPA, founded his own accounting firm in 1958 in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Within three years, he had expanded his company to two more offices and another city, beginning a pattern of solid growth that continues into the new century. From the beginning, the firm known today as Kemper CPA Group LLP has offered the highest quality accounting services, delivered by experienced people using the latest technology and accounting methodologies.

From its first office with four employees and one partner in Mt. Carmel, Kemper CPA Group has grown to several hundred employees, and locations in five states – Illinois, Indiana, California, Florida and Kentucky. Based on its size, Kemper CPA Group is currently ranked as one of the top 100 CPA firms in the United States.

In the early development of the Firm, there were very few years during which Kemper CPA Group did not acquire at least one new office; usually, each year saw the addition of several offices. Much of the expansion came about through purchasing or merging with existing accounting firms, although some offices have opened as entirely new locations. However, physical growth in the form of new offices and more employees is not the only way Kemper CPA Group LLP has expanded; it has also grown extensively in the number, variety, and depth of services available to its clients.

In 1966, the Firm saw the passing of its founder, Morris Kemper; however, the firm he created still bears his name today, to ensure that the goodwill resulting from the Kemper name will continue. For many years, the Firm’s name changed as new partners joined or departed. Eventually, the size of the Firm made this method too cumbersome; thus, in 1980, the name Kemper CPA Group was officially adopted. In 1994, it became a limited liability company; in 2003, the decision was made to become a limited liability partnership.

Today, Kemper CPA Group LLP provides services to a very diverse array of clients, including attorneys and hospitals, medical-service organizations and wholesale distributors; our clients are as small as individuals and sole proprietors, and as large as multi-corporate conglomerates. Our skilled, professional staff tailors its work to each client’s specific needs, regardless of the industry or size of the client. We take pride in the fact that some of our clients have retained Kemper CPA Group as their accounting firm since its inception in 1958 because of the Firm’s experience, resources, and ongoing dedication to excellence.
