Administrative Assistant

Position Description

The full-time administrative assistant is responsible for providing support to Kemper CPA Group LLP’s accounting practice. This position requires a proficient level of experience and skills in Microsoft Word and Excel. The position also requires experience with general office support, scanning, photocopying, filing, and accounting such as processing deposits, bills, timesheets, and other bookkeeping functions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high level support to personnel
  • Prepare written client correspondence as requested
  • Assembly and final review of tax return packages prior to delivery to client (ensure all documents are signed, proper mailing envelopes are included, verify method of delivery, update internal tax return tracking system, prepare for mailing/courier/overnight delivery)
  • Assembly and final review of financial statement packages prior to delivery to client
  • Scanning client documents in accordance with firm protocol
  • Assistance in editing and tracking of engagement letters for new and existing tax clients
  • Assistance in completion of client set up forms for new tax clients/engagements
  • Tax Return Tracking – assistance in tracking the delivery of tax returns within firm software
  • General administrative tasks – word processing, photocopying, filing, scanning
  • Extension Assembly – manage the extension process for all deadlines (includes assembly of extension package, transmission of electronic extension to the IRS, update the tracking software, and scan final package)
  • Office bookkeeper duties including filing timesheets, deposits, billings, etc.
  • Assist in client bookkeeping including keying checks, deposits, payroll, etc.
  • Additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
  • Experience providing support for a tax practice:  2 years (Preferred)
  • Administrative support:  2 years (Required)
  • Bookkeeping and accounting experienced (Preferred)
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with tax software a plus
