Biography
Clayton was raised in Altamont, Illinois, and is a 2013 graduate of Altamont High School. He attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois, and graduated in May of 2017 with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting and Business Administration. He also played two years of college baseball while pursuing his degree, which taught him time management, hard work, and dedication.
Clayton began his career in St. Louis, Missouri, working for private companies where he performed accounts payable/receivable duties, bank reconciliations, auditing, and other various accounting tasks. In May of 2021, he decided to return to Altamont and accepted a full-time accounting position at the Effingham office of Kemper CPA Group.
Clayton started off as a Staff Accountant with Kemper CPA Group while studying for the CPA exam. He passed the CPA exam in June of 2023 and is a licensed CPA. Clayton is now a Manager with the Effingham office while working 100% remotely from Kansas City, Missouri.
Clayton specializes in state and local taxes and is the SALT Expert for the firm. He has experience in multistate corporate and partnership taxation, including state income and franchise tax. He also works with individuals for tax planning and return preparation.
Clayton is an avid sports fan and enjoys fishing, fitness, and golfing.
